We invite you to explore our website, review our materials, and learn about our pre-graduate and professional school workshop for American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and First Nation aboriginals of Canada. Graduate Horizons is a 72 hour "crash course" for Native American college students, master's students, and college graduates in preparing for graduate school (master's, Ph.D. or professional school). Faculty, admissions officers and deans from a selection 40 graduate and professional schools and representing hundreds of graduate disciplines work will help students:
  • Select suitable graduate programs to apply to and consider potential career paths
  • Complete quality applications and resumes
  • Write effective statements of purpose and memorable personal statements
  • Receive test-taking strategies on the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT
  • Learn how to finance your graduate education
  • Explore special issues and strategies for Native students' success in graduate school
  • Develop relationships and network with faculty and student professionals
Whether you are a freshman/sophomore in college and undecided about what graduate programs or career to consider, or whether you are a college graduate who has been "out of school" working for 3-10 years - the Graduate Horizons curriculum can meet your individual needs.
The workshop is 4 days long (Sat-Tue) and consists of 75-90 students. Students are required to participate for the entire program. late arrivals or early departures are not allowed.



Eligibility: To be eligible, each student must,
  • Be American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, or First Nations/Aboriginal/Metis AND provide appropriate tribal/ancestry documentation (copies of relevant tribal enrollment forms or descent documentation issued from a state or federally recognize tribe, or verified Hawaiian ancestry documentation such as required by the Kamehameha Schools, or from the Ho'oulu Hawaiian Data Center, or birth certificate showing Hawaiian descent);
  • Be a current college student or master's student or college graduate;
  • For those students applying for financial aid scholarship (tuition or travel assistance), a copy of your tax return and income information is required;
  • Submit a completed application packet by the established deadlines.
